Bee Swarm Simulator Planters Guide: Nectar, Growth and Puffshrooms Explained

Planters are the closest thing Bee Swarm Simulator has to an idle system: plant, wait, harvest nectar and loot. But the mechanics hide real depth — growth boosts, smoking rolls, field matching — and a bad rotation quietly wastes hours. Here’s the whole system, per the community-verified mechanics.

The rules that govern every planter

Making planters grow faster

Four boosts stack on planter growth:

  1. Glitter on the planter’s field: +25% growth until harvest.
  2. Active clouds over the field: +8% per cloud, capped at +20%, while the clouds last.
  3. Field matching: planters grow ~25% faster in fields that suit them — a Red Clay Planter in a red field, and so on.
  4. Bees sipping: bees standing in the planter’s field add growth while converting pollen and generating bonus nectar. Park your hive where your planter is.

Smoking and puffshrooms

At 95% growth every planter rolls whether it will “smoke”. A smoking planter at full growth releases a puffshroom on harvest — bonus loot whose level scales with the planter. Each planter type has its own smoke chance; the Ticket Planter and Sticker Planter are guaranteed to smoke. If your planter is visibly smoking, never harvest before 100%.

Nectar in one minute

Each field’s flowers carry one of five nectar types (Comforting, Refreshing, Satisfying, Motivating, Invigorating), and harvesting a planter banks nectar of that field’s type. Nectar fuels field-wide buffs, so the field you plant in is really a choice about which buff you’re stockpiling — plan planters around the nectar you’ll want, not just the pollen you’d collect anyway.

A rotation that never wastes a slot

Blue-field planters are also one of the reliable sources of blue extract — the full material chain is in the extracts & materials guide. For which bees make your planter fields work hardest, see the stage-based tier list.
